Rowell Santiago is a Filipino actor, director, and producer. He is best known for his work in films such as Forever (1994), A Very Special Love (2008), and Feliciano Luce’s alias Kumander Toothpick (1987). he is 50 years old
Santiago began his acting career in 1976 in the film Bato sa Buhangin. He went on to appear in several Filipino films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, such as Friends in Love (1983), Say You Love Me (1982), Cross My Heart (1982), Mga Batang Yagit (1984), and Hinugot sa Langit (1985).
He has also appeared in several television shows, such as Star Circle Kid Quest (2004), Baba Hampaslupa (1990), and Oras-Oras, Araw-Araw (1989). In 1994, Santiago made his directorial debut with the Filipino drama Forever.
Since then, he has directed several films, such as Luv Text (2001), Paikot-Ikot (1990), and 3pol Trobol Huli Ka Balbon (2019). He also produced the 2013 Filipino romantic comedy It Takes a Man and a Woman, starring John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo.
Santiago is working on his upcoming film Magikland, which will be released in 2020. He has also been involved in numerous charity donation campaigns and strongly advocates for children’s rights.
Santiago’s work has been celebrated and awarded by numerous organizations, including the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences, which awarded him the Best Director Award in 2001 for his work on Luv Text. He also receives the Gawad Urian Award for Best Picture for A Very Special Love (2008).
